About Premier
Premier Industries Limited was established in 1966 as a family concern. The company is primarily engaged in plastic recycling and manufacture of textile products. The company's major lines of products in order of volume/value are as follows:
(i) Textile & Garments Division
This division engages in the manufacturing of textiles, elastics and ready stitched garments for the local market and exports to the COMESA region.
(ii) Plastic Division
It’s involved in the production of plastic containers of varying sizes. The company’s plastic processing division has a production capacity of 180-200 tones of finished products a month. However, this will go up to 300 tones by the end of March 2007.
(iii) Trading Division
The company imports a number of items from overseas for distribution locally as well as for export. The company is an agent for a few companies from overseas for the East Africa region. Some of the imported products include:
- Confectionery
- Wooden Toothpicks
- Sewing Threads
- Cello tapes
- Packaging Tapes & Masking Tapes
- Exercise Books and many more
The Trading Division is a value adding incentive to complement the main stream products of PREMIER INDUSTRIES LTD. By making it an all round sourcing outlet, the management has sought ways of accommodating different types of demands, such that, the end user or retailer does not buy baby garments and beddings from PREMIER then look for a baby cot elsewhere. The same applies to the Plastic Division.
The division also acts as a revenue supplement for the core business the Company engages in. Thus, the benefits of the continued cash flow and different revenue streams are enjoyed by workers through training and better remuneration. The Company also benefits from this division through channeling funds for expansion and growth, improvement of infrastructure and better provision of services
